Though born in Boston, Joyce is really a Floridian, having lived in Miami since she was nine years old. She attended Florida State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree and Florida International University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Joyce began her distinguished banking career at Southeast Bank, where she received her formal training in Corporate Lending. As her career advanced, she worked in virtually all areas of banking, serving in senior management roles for many of Florida’s leading financial institutions. Most notably, Joyce joined Gibraltar Bank in 1997, where she was responsible for creating the Wealth Management Division.

During her career, Joyce was very active in a wide array of civic and philanthropic organizations. She chaired the Governor’s Advisory Council on Small and Minority Business, served on Advisory Boards and was a recurring speaker for the American Bankers Association and the Bank Administration Institute and took leadership roles with numerous philanthropic organizations such as the Zoological Society of Florida where she is the current Chair for Feast with the Beasts - 2006, Dade Heritage Trust, American Red Cross and Jackson Memorial Foundation, just to name a few.

She retired from Gibraltar in April of 2006, and is now pursuing the many interests about which she is passionate - her insatiable lust for adventure travel, her infinite love of both domestic and wild animals, a fierce nurturing of her vast network of wonderful friends and, last but not least, finding new ways to see just how far outside of his comfort zone she can stretch her ever loving, long suffering husband, Peter.
